If you have lost a tooth, you already know that it is an unpleasant and difficult experience. As well as practical problems such as difficulty chewing, you may also have a loss of confidence due to changes in your appearance, a fear of laughing or smiling in public and missing teeth can cause permanent discomfort.
Why choose dental implants?
- You'll regain your natural smile
- You'll benefit from increased comfort
- You will regain your confidence
- Implants are not affected by caries
- You will be able to enjoy your favourite foods again without restrictions
1. Initial consultation and treatment planning
Your doctor will assess the general condition of your teeth and bones through a clinical consultation and imaging tests, such as dental X-rays or dental CT scans. Draw up a personalised treatment plan.
2. Oral preparation
If necessary, existing infections can be treated, damaged teeth can be removed or bone can be added to provide the necessary support for implants.
3. Dental implants
During oral surgery, implants (titanium screws) are fixed into the bone. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia so that the patient feels no pain.
4. Healing period (osseointegration)
The implant must be firmly fixed in the bone, a process that takes between 3 and 6 months, depending on the patient.
5. Uncovering of the implant and application of the prosthetic abutment
After osseointegration, the implant is 'exposed' and a small device (denture retainer) is attached to support the future denture.
6. Crown moulding and fabrication
An impression of the implant is taken and a customised crown is made that looks and functions like a natural tooth.
7. Fixed crown
A dental crown is permanently fitted over the implant, restoring function and beauty to your smile.
8. Implant maintenance
Doctors recommend regular check-ups and proper oral hygiene to ensure implant longevity.
